Jul. 20, 2008 ~ News

The good news is that College Boy (who graduated in December and has been diligently searching for employment ever since) has been offered a job. Said job is in Virginia, close to Washington, D.C. He is to start in about a month, and in that time he must pack, find an apartment in the new town, and move up there. He has a 13 year-old car, so we are not so crazy about him driving it up there. Husband would be willing to go with him, tow the car, and carry a load of stuff, but the catch is... what would they do with it when they got there? Put it in storage? He does not have a truck, so he would have to pay movers to un-store the stuff and move it to his apartment. Should he fly up there first and try to find a place? Well, yes, possibly a few months ago, that would have been reasonable. But airline tickets have gone sky-high! Should we even haul his furniture up there, considering the cost of transporting it? This is second-hand stuff, none of it top-notch. He could buy more second-hand stuff there or buy inexpensive new furniture, perhaps. I certainly remember starting out and not having much, just a couple of donated beds. Eventually we found things at garage sales, and we survived. It was even fun. I'm sure it will all work out. But it is all very perplexing! So many "what-ifs" and "buts" and so on. I do know that other people do this sort of thing all the time and they figure it out somehow. I trust we will, too. We ARE excited that he has a job!

In the not-so-good news department, our sweet little dog, Meadow, has disappeard. She has been gone nearly a month now. We've done all that we know to do... contacted the local vets, the animal shelter, police and sheriff's departments, and we are still running an ad in the paper. But no Meadow. We are still hopeful, though, as miracles happen everyday. Missing animals do come home.
