Diaryland was down for a while, and I wasn't able to post. In case you missed it, here is the post I sent via email:

Hello, and how've you been? Hope you are all doing well. I have been seriously remiss in not posting an entry in well over a month. Sorry. A lot has happened in that brief time.

Janie Sue, our bottle-fed calf, is almost old enough to be weaned. We have a new kitten, Abby, a little cat in training. She is in the house, though the original plan was for her to be outside. Oh, and there was one more thing.

Our son is home from Afghanistan! He has been back in the states for two full weeks now. Sorry I haven't let you know sooner. Daughter-in-law wrote to tell us that he had gotten sick while out on a mission and had been in the hospital for a few days, and that he was coming home. Son had a "bad feeling" about staying in Afghanistan, so he trusted his instincts and left. Thank God. I've had that same bad feeling since the day he set foot there. But apparently this was something different from my general anxiety and fear, it was something specific related to what was actually going on there. We're just so thankful that he's back. We have all the Christmas presents we need!
