Mar. 04, 2007 ~ Best Confirmation email

Received this email, letting me know that my order had been shipped:

"Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Sunday, March 4th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did. Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Okay, this made me laugh. Why, yes, I AM easily amused! How did you guess?

Husband read the email and gasped, "What did YOU BUY?"

"Two CD's!"

So I will be anxiously watching the mail, looking forward to receiving the gold-lined box and the satin pillow. Oh, yeah, and the CD's.

It's nice to do business with a company where someone has a sense of humor.

Spoke with Soldier Boy last night, who, oddly enough, is currently staying at the Army Post where he had his basic training. He explained why he was there but I still don't really understand. Anyway. He thinks he will be going to Afghanistan instead of Iraq, and will be leaving the 1st of April. They will be gone a year.

One thing I learned which left me stunned... he will not have a weapon. He will be living on an Army Post, surrounded by soldiers, so hopefully that will provide a degree of safety while he's on post, but while he is away from the post, doing his actual job, no weapon. His actual job is something I don't understand, either, but it is something technical. While I am still heavily in denial, it's getting harder and harder to maintain. Still, until he actually gets on the plane, I choose not to believe it's happening.
