Dec. 17, 2004 ~ Baking and good-byes

Tomorrow I'm going to try something I haven't done in awhile... baking. Banana bread, first, then maybe some anadama bread. Possibly some cookies. It's also recycling day, and if there is time I'd like to pass out flowers to friends and neighbors -- something I've been doing this week. I cut the last of our roses before the hard freeze a couple of nights ago, and the blooms are so pretty.

This is a sad time but also a very happy time for us, as we await the birth of our first grandchild, and as we pray for our son's continued stay in the US. He seems so full of life and joy. He loves his wife very much and is absolutely crazy about his daughter-to-be.

College Boy is at a party and will be spending the night there, returning tomorrow in time to go to the visitation at the funeral home. He does not have much family to speak of, but it will be good to see Earl's friends. The place will be filled to overflowing with people, as he never met a stranger. He made everyone he met feel important and special, and he seemed to have an impact on everyone.

Son learned to make deviled eggs tonight, and he took a batch of them, along with a container of fudge (which he made!), to the party.

The legal problem concerning Earl has been resolved in my mind, and I hope to stay completely out of it!
