Dec. 25, 2009 ~ Christmas

Merry Christmas to you and yours! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

College Boy still has not made it home for Christmas, but he is very, very close. He's sitting in a plane in Dallas, and that plane is being de-iced for the second time. Husband is on his way to our local airport to pick him up, thinking that his flight is in the air. Considering that it's about 1 a.m. and our roads may be icy, I won't be calling Husband to tell him that news just yet. I'm all for delays for de-icing. Those are good delays. And if they decide that the plane is not safe to fly, hey, I'm okay with that, too. Safety first!

Our good friend in Dallas, Cheryl, invited Son to spend the night with their family when it looked like he would miss his connecting flight. But they got their wires crossed. Son was supposed to call when his flight got there so Cheryl's husband could come pick him up. But her hubby checked the airline's website and decided it would be best to head to the airport early. Only Son didn't miss his connecting flight, because it was delayed, too! Friend's husband was driving on icy roads when I called to tell him the news. Oy! This will sure be a Christmas to remember, for both our families! Sure hope Son makes it in tonight.

Update--After about 8 hours of flight delays, Son did arrive at the local airport, minus his checked luggage. A minor inconvenience at this point. We are just so grateful that he is safely home! Hopefully the suitcase will turn up soon. Husband and Son wear the same sizes in most items, so clothing will not be a problem.

None of us got much sleep last night, but hey, it was Christmas Eve. Parents aren't actually SUPPOSED to sleep on Christmas Eve, are they? When the boys were little, we were up till all hours wrapping gifts, assembling things, and generally making the magic happen. Now that the kids are grown, we're still up to all hours, bringing one of them home. Which can't help but make me smile. Years from now, I suspect Son will still be talking about this special Christmas. I know I will.

Merry Christmas!
