Jan. 08, 2007 ~ Harriet and the boys

Heard from Cousin again today. This weekend Aunt Harriet fell and hurt her shoulder, and spent the day in the hospital having tests done. She was finally sent home. The next morning she called her son to tell him that she was in quite a lot of pain. He explained that it was probably related to her fall the previous day. She did not remember falling or spending the day in the hospital.

Well.

She also does not remember her oldest grandson.

Cousin said that they will soon be moving her from assisted living to a place with full nursing care. I know that's a hard decision to make. Assisted Living means you just need some help, but you still have your independence. Nursing Care or Nursing Home means... well, we all know what it means.

Older Cousin (older brother of Cousin) also emailed, and I was glad to hear from him. The twins and I were about the same age and we were always close, but Older Cousin was closer to my brother. Older Cuz was the one who broke the age barrier - he was the first of the cousins to survive to age 50. His brother and I have now safely passed that milestone, too, and are looking forward to passing 60. Not in an, "Oh boy, I can't wait to turn 60!" kind of way... we just fully intend to REACH that age.

Anyway, it was good to hear from both cousins, even if the news was not so good.
