Aug. 26, 2003 ~ Busy days

Been busy lately, in a good way. Sometimes there do not seem to be enough hours in the day, and it's go, go, go, but it never all gets done. Other times, like now, there is a pleasant, satisfying level of activity, and with it, a sense of accomplishment at tasks completed.

Today the tree guys came and got rid of more of the tree debris. One more trip should do it, and it shouldn't take them long, provided their equipment holds out. This is hard wood, and it's pretty rough on the chain saws.

Husband just called. He's working late, wants me to feed the horses tonight. No problem. They are good horses, and it's a pleasure to take care of them. They're our babies, after all.

Today's civic club meeting was fun. A friend of ours, who is now our Sheriff, was guest speaker. He does not like speaking in public and was nervous! And one of our members had a baby last Wednesday, and was back out and about today. She showed up at the meeting, just like always, and I saw her out running errands today, looking healthy and fit. I was impressed. Her baby is a cutie pie, too.

College Boy had a rough morning. He hit a bird, a buzzard, to be exact. He knows not to expect them to move out of the way, when he sees them on the road, so I guess one stepped out in front of him. Oops. Busted out a headlight, and shook him up a bit. Oops, again. Just talked to him on the phone. Seems he did see the bird, but too late to avoid hitting it, and he couldn't switch lanes. Rats. And it did more than bust a headlight. Told him we'd check the car when he got home. I'd imagine it can be fixed. He's okay, that's the important thing.

Bad news from our sister-in-law. Her lung cancer has returned. She might need chemo and/or radiation this time. Sure hate to hear this. Kind of puts things in perspective.
