July 28, 2001 ~ Another baby bull

was born today. Cheryl Lynn is the proud mama. Cheryl Lynn had trouble coming into the world; Larry had to help her along. She's had several calves now, and has had no delivery troubles. Also, her mother has had no more difficulties since Cheryl Lynn's birth, so it's a good deal all around. We used to not worry much about them when they were calving; after all, they seem to manage just fine without us most of the time. But there have certainly been some times... when our presence would have meant the difference between life and death. And that's so sad, when we arrive just a few minutes too late, and realize how close we were to making it in time. We don't worry too much now, but do try to use common sense. We try to be nearby when they are calving, and only offer help when needed.

Today's and yesterday's deliveries went just fine, and those babies are both so cute. The freshest one is chocolate brown and looks like he's wearing eye-liner and mascara... such beautiful eyes!
